Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the organisations which are restless for the rights of women in Pakistan, why these organizations are silent on the atrocities being committed against Muslim women in India.
Pakistani women are committed to prove their capabilities in every field of life. She said that the slogans being raised on the name of rights of woman and aurat march have been seen by us, adding that how it is possible that the thing which is not good for my daughter, I encourage the same for the daughter of the nation.
Addressing a special ceremony in connection with International Women’s Day in Lahore on Sunday, she said without active participation of womenfolk in every field of life, the dream of a true Islamic welfare state cannot be fulfilled.
The special assistant said that women are equally contributing to the country’s development. This day reminds of struggles and sacrifices made by women, she added.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said Islam gave the highest respect to women and all rights given to them in the United Nations Charter were already present in the Holy Quran. Referring to the miserable condition of Kashmiri women suffering gravely at the hands of Indian forces along other segments of society for last four months, she lamented the world institutions’ silence over it.
She said that the Kashmiri daughters who have become hostage in the hands of 0.9 million Indian forces and their right of freedom of expression has been snatched why international organizations and media did not focus on this. She said that whether religious freedom, human freedom, constitutional freedom and basic rights have not been murdered, adding if these have been murdered then who will catch murder Modi from collar. She said that why international organizations and United Nations have closed their eyes on this situation.
Dr Firdous said the government was taking effective steps to empower women by ensuring their rights as per vision of Prime Minister.
“Today is the day for all to salute our mothers. “I pay tribute to women playing effective role in socio-economic development of the country. Pakistan has talented women in every field”, she commented.
Women Policy would be announced in the women convention; she disclosed.
Muslim women were custodian of the social traditions, she said and asserted that adverse social behaviours were causing injustice to the women. Regarding Aurat March, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said Madar-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah should be role model for us and today was the day to pay homage to the women of Pakistan Movement.
